Pennington Montessori’s Toddler program accepts children aged 15 months to 3 years and is designed to encourage independence, respect, socialization and language development – the foundational elements of exceptional character and academic excellence a child will take with them as they mature.
The Toddler day is structured in such as way as to appeal to both the internal sense of order and routine harbored by our youngest children, as well as their inherent desire to learn and try new activities. Much time is spent learning critical independence skills though materials and activities that teach the children how to execute everyday tasks on their own. Understanding that toddlers are very sensitive to language, we constantly strive to enrich each child’s vocabulary, using books and songs as a fun way to help them learn. We also encourage social interaction and respect by giving the children the correct words to share their feelings and needs.
Barring inclement weather, Toddler children go outside for ample amounts of time every day to play, explore and garden. In addition, they are treated to special instruction in areas such as yoga and outdoor education outside of their classroom several times a week. Children who attend in the afternoons are soothed to their naps on provided mats and bedding by music in their darkened classroom.
All of our Toddler Teachers have been trained and accredited by the American Montessori Society (AMS), with a specialization in teaching the Infant/Toddler age-group.View Our Faculty & Administration
